Henry Middleton DAR, Aiken, SC
HMC DAR
The Henry Middleton Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) has been an active organization within the Aiken community since 1964. Our chapter is named in honor of Henry Middleton, a wealthy plantation owner born in 1717 in Charleston, South Carolina. He served patriotically as the President of the 1st Continental Congress in 1774 and later as President and Senator of South Carolina’s Provincial Assembly.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, dedicated to historic preservation, education, and patriotism. The Henry Middleton Chapter is dedicated to our mission and actively involved in local, state, national, and international initiatives. We recently celebrated a 70-year chapter member in 2023, underscoring our enduring commitment to our members. This year we will be celebrating our chapter’s 60th birthday at our December monthly meeting with a Tea Party.
Our chapter meets the second Wednesday of each month, September-May. Our meetings are informational and thought-provoking as we educate our members with the stories of our amazing ancestors who fought for this great country of ours. Members also have the chance to participate in district, state, and national conferences.
Do you have a Revolutionary War Patriot in your family tree? If you’re eager to join our local meetings, please reach out to our head Regent, Registrar or any of our board members. Take the first step to becoming a member of DAR by collecting your genealogical information and contacting our chapter registrar. We’ll support you through the application process and answer any questions you may have. Each member of our chapter is a direct descendant of a Revolutionary War Patriot. We would love to help you prove your patriotic lineage.
